Local SU super-fan meets with Coach Boeheim again after viral photo

SYRACUSE, NY — The picture of Julie Tennant introducing herself to SU Coach Jim Boeheim during a plane ride made all of social media smile last week.

On Monday, Julie met with Boeheim again to tour the team’s practice facility. While there she also got to meet former Orange legend John Wallace. Coach Boeheim gave Julie an authographed basketball and hat. He also told her he's going to get her to a game this season.

Julie has Down syndrome and travels with her brother giving inspirational speeches. She’s also a super-fan of the Syracuse Orange.

Her brother says that she treats everyone the same, even when she’s talking to a Hall of Fame coach. During their meeting on Monday, Julie wouldn’t let Boeheim forget his infamous moment at Duke.

"I remember when you got mad at somebody on a team and your jacket flew off,” she said.

Boeheim says that he appreciated Julie coming up to him.

"Most people don't come up to me," he said. "They're afraid I think but Julie wasn't afraid - came right up and that's great - I think it's a great thing."

Julie’s brother says people are drawn to her because she’s all love.
